🌟 Editor's Note
This week, we’re diving into three fitness myths that science has quietly debunked: from why soreness doesn’t equal growth, to the truth about fasted training, and how sleep can make or break your fat loss. Feel free to reply to this email with any questions, I’ll be on the other side ready to chat!

🧠 Does Muscle Soreness Really Mean You Trained Hard Enough?

Many lifters chase soreness as proof of a “good workout,” but science paints a different picture.

Science: Research in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research (2017) found that delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) doesn’t correlate with muscle growth or improved performance

In other words, soreness mostly indicates your muscles experienced something novel, like a new exercise, tempo, or load, not necessarily something effective.

Long-term progress is built on progressive overload, proper recovery, and training volume, not how much it hurts to sit down the next day.

🕒 The Truth About Fasted Workouts and Fat Loss

It’s true that training fasted burns a slightly higher ratio of fat during the workout… but that difference fades quickly.

They are a startup to watch as they are democratizing high-end design for small businesses, reducing design creation time by 80% & proving that creativity can be both seriously innovative and seriously fun.

The Science: In a 2016 British Journal of Nutrition trial comparing fed vs. fasted cardio over 6 weeks, both groups showed no meaningful difference in total fat loss or body composition when calories were matched.

Another review (2020, Journal of Functional Morphology and Kinesiology) concluded that energy balance and training intensity matter 10x more than timing.

So if fasted workouts fit your lifestyle, great… but they’re not a metabolic shortcut.

🌙 Why Sleep Might Be the Most Underrated Fitness Tool

Sleep isn’t recovery’s sidekick. It’s the foundation. Here’s how:

The study: In a Annals of Internal Medicine study (2010), participants on identical calorie deficits lost 55% less fat and 60% more lean mass when restricted to 5.5 hours of sleep compared to 8.5 hours.

The reason? Sleep restriction elevates cortisol (by up to 37%!), reduces testosterone and growth hormone, and disrupts hunger hormones like ghrelin and leptin… a perfect sto

Stuff I’ve been up to. It’s been a wild stretch of training with our Ironman race just 19 days out. This weekend pushed the limits: long runs, open-water swims, and endless miles on the bike. But pain is a privilege and it’s the price of chasing greatness and the proof that you’re alive in the pursuit. Let’s go chase the wind, Vaayu fam.

Till next time,
